Proposals List

July 2009

It is proposed that the current format of the group and its intentions be formalised to provide support from a number of services within the area.

As chairperson, I believe it is incumbent upon me to  improve on the existing support membership and  clearly define the main objectives within which we should operate.

To this intent, I am proposing the following :-

The group has now applied for charitable status which will allow us access to financial support from a number of local agencies and governmental assistance.

The group provide assistance in helping those who  are having difficulty coming to terms with their problems, in respect of these being Transgender related.

The group maintain contact with like minded groups in and around Scotland, as well as update the membership on the current status of any project , surveys etc, which may have  a bearing on the trans community.

The group require a dedicated space to be made available, as a focal point for assistance and the dissemination of literature, as well as a safe are for those seeking help, guidance or understanding as this relates to their being Transgender

Due to the lack of information available, in relation to current laws and requirements, the group should take on some of the responsibility in producing small booklets on various aspects of the problems people may encounter, with a view to making them aware of certain aspects which they may not have fully considered.

END

April 2010

Perhaps with the re-opening of the LGBT Centre, the group can re-ignite the enthusiasm and embark on a new course which will allow many to enjoy their life to the full.

Although things have not panned out the way they had originally been intended, they are now starting to move forward with gathering momentum, and we hope that within the next few months, our efforts will come to fruition.

As some items are still in discussion, it would be imprudent  to reveal any details, but what I can say is this :-

0  Crosslynx is becoming more well known throughout the country as the main component in the Transgender Community. As we become better known, so our influence will increase, and we are taking the Transgender Umbrella out to people who only thought we existed in twilight areas..

0  We are in discussions with a few people as regards support services, not only for the trans person, but also for the partners, families and relations, friends etc. We hope to provide a range of services to help them understand and support the trans person. We believe the funding for this work will be approved very soon.

0  We hope to create an awareness campaign specifically designed for Scotland, although interest has been received from England, which will raise the awareness of the public to our input into a diverse country.

0  New  links are being forged constantly with more authorities and we are now talking to a number of these authorities about awareness training. In addition, we gain their support and help to progress the group as a facilitator of Trans awareness.

0  Discussions regarding the renting of office space and hall space, for Crosslynx have been satisfactorily completed, and when the funding is made available, we shall have a permanent office space  to facilitate the group and any person or organisation who needs information or assistance.

Please feel free to comment and let me know if you have any ideas where you believe the group should be directed.

Supporting the Transgender Community in Glasgow and the West of Scotland

July 2010

It would appear that  the numbers who will use the Crosslynx facility are almost at a minimum. We have funding which will allow us to set up the office accommodation on a permanent basis at Castro, as well as funding for the 2010 awareness campaign. Whilst the campaign gathers momentum, we would appreciate support from our own members and community.

Crosslynx. Transgender Group

August 2010

Due to the continued apathy shown by the Trans Community, as witnessed by the April Event, and another event in CASTRO last week, it may be more prudent to stop all monthly meetings  and concentrate on being a voice within the community and helping others as necessary. This decision isn’t made lightly and it is only with a heavy heart that it would appear to be the only viable option to keep the Crosslynx name in the forefront, as a contact for people and other groups.
