U.K. Jan 2010 An incident has been recorded involving the security guards at the Scottish Parliament office, in which it is reported that a person identified themselves as being a woman, and demanded to be searched by a female security officer. This officer apparently refused to conduct the search saying she felt uncomfortable. From an account stated to me by a person who attended the event, the person was not presenting as “hairy”, as had been reported, but was not particularly dressed as a female. Additionally, as there was no bodily contact in the search , which was being conducted with hand held scanners, there was no apparent need for this to be done by a female security officer. The additional second search was initiated by a metal buckle which triggered the body scanner. It isn't known if the person identified as transsexual or transvestite, although one newspaper did report that the person was transvestite. |
