Campaigns

END

I have added this page  to the site, as currently one of my closest friends and I are trying to raise the awareness of the public that transgender people are being discriminated against, and it is now part of this websites function to bring certain items to the fore.

In line with this policy, I would direct many of you to the following link to see how violence manifests itself in our society, and we have to put a stop to this hatred

Please take a few minutes to read what she has said, as its taken me a lot of persuasion to get her to help.

Any comments, or perhaps your stories, would be welcomed and you can send them to my email address

Supporting the Transgender Community in Glasgow and the West of Scotland

CROSSLYNX has initiated a campaign to raise the awareness of the public to its Transgender Community. Since it’s inception, we have now discussed the campaign with a number of authorities, and on Thursday , a presentation was made , in conjunction with NEST Support ( Aberdeen)  to the Association of Police Officers in Scotland, to gain their approval and some funding.

Subsequent to that presentation, we have created a limited  campaign which will be launched at Sparkle 2010. The poster shown below, along with a flyer and leaflets, will be made available to the people who attend  the event. We have sought and obtained approval from all the TG Groups in Scotland who are backing this campaign, and we have approval to set out the leaflets etc. at the Beaumont Society stall.

Whilst we await the full funding for the national campaign, we hope this limited campaign will provide us with some useful feedback.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the proposal, please contact me. N.b. these items are now being printed

Campaign 2

Crosslynx. Transgender Group

The leaflets and posters were distributed both at Manchester’s “Sparkle” and at Glasgow’s “Pride” march. To date we have had few responses and we are urging everybody to provide some feedback, to gauge how the information is being received.

Please   -   complete our survey at surveymonkey   (see link below)

Just as an update for anybody who is interested, we have had some feedback from the surveymonkey questionnaire, and  unsurprisingly  one of the replies was the “ I’m all right walking about  the streets and don’t get bother.”  Just about summarises the attitude many of the Trans community feel about others in the community, doesn’t it ???

We have also obtained a small amount of sponsorship from North Lanarkshire Council, as well as a major contribution from the Big Lottery Fund.  They must think it’s worthwhile, unlike a few others, who should be positive and help, since, inevitably, it’s in their interests.

Both myself and Alex will be doing a radio show on 5th Sept on shmu.fm radio which is broadcast in the Aberdeen area, and online. Our friend Nicola from NEST Support hosts the show every week, and has given us an opportunity to promote the campaign. Please try and listen in and give us some feedback, as we may have to curtail this campaign due to lack of support .
